The Times-Colonist paper published comments by our Health Minister responding to criticism of her ministry's response to allegations of violent behavior by a deputy minister. The Feb. 15th article qoutes Murray as saying "We're responsible employers. Threats or violence are not tolerated. We do take it seriously, which is why we've been so proactive" Is this the same employer that tolerates abuse and cruelty targeting vulnerable workers, protecting the perpetrators and instilling fear in those that would like to tell the truth? I think its time that our Government was called to task about the thugs that administer their programmes and routinely destroy the lives of good and innocent workers. My personal experience with trying to have bullying addressed in the Health sector has shown clearly that they hold all the cards including the media. Their style of "investigating" resembles the defense in a rape trial. One way to discredit the victim is to leave the perpetrator in their positions while the so-called investigation takes place. This will guarantee that those in the workplace will be psychologically intimidated about telling the truth, the perpetrator will be vindicated and the victim will be totally destroyed. Shame on Joyce Murray, she is not informed about bullying and seems to believe that a violent episode is arandom act that could not have been forseen.
